On Our List: R. Thomas Deluxe Grill (Atlanta, GA)

Written by Mark McElroy

Consistent. Efficient. Healthy. Psychedelic. What’s not to love?

For all its psychedelic trappings (black light posters, disco lights, laser shows, rainbow lights), R. Thomas Deluxe Grill is one of Atlanta’s most consistent restaurants.

While Einstein’s seems to hire all new waiters about once every two weeks, at R. Thomas we’ve been seeing the same friendly, efficient servers for nine years. (They stayed on, even after a fire closed the place for months.) They recognize us. They’re efficient. They’re good at what they do.

The menu leans toward the organic, vegetarian, and vegan, but there’s plenty of meat (particularly chicken) to keep omnivores happy, too. And where else in Atlanta are you going to eat in a water-cooled circus tent flanked by an exotic bird show? Order a veggie sloppy joe, an omelet, or the Thai express bowl and enjoy. Recommended.
